Abstract
In the field of urban development, the prioritization of political strategies plays an
essential role in the formation of sustainable and inclusive cities. The political
development of the city is a complex and multifaceted process that seeks to increase
citizen participation, strengthen democratic institutions, and improve the quality of life in
cities. Identifying and prioritizing appropriate strategies for political development in each
city is very important. As an important city in Iran, Khorramabad faces unique challenges
and opportunities in the field of political development. This applied research used a
descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through library, document, and survey
(researcher-made questionnaire tool). The statistical population of the research included
30 qualified experts in the research subject, who were selected based on gradual
purposeful sampling. Analytical Hierarchy (AHP) method was used for data analysis. The
findings of the research show that citizens' participation (with an average of 1.47), urban
social movements (with an average of 1.84) and the role of the media and Khorramabad
advocacy groups (with an average of 1.45) are three important issues in the political
development strategies of this city that should be taken into consideration. The results of
this research show that political development in Khorramabad requires a comprehensive
and multilateral approach in which all political, social and economic actors should
actively participate.
